Car was lifted to save a trapped dog
Three men and a female church worker lifted a car to save the life of a dog yesterday.
The drama happened at lunchtime in Long Furlong Drive, Britwell, when a brown dog ran under a car and was dragged for about 20ft.
The distraught woman driver was taken to a nearby church hall and given a cup of tea.
Church worker Lynne Ricketts, 43, of New Haven Spur, said she screamed when she saw the dog run under the car and become trapped under a wheel arch.
Mrs Ricketts said: “The dog was yelping in pain and I was screaming.
“I flagged down a car for help and three men helped to lift the car and rescue the dog.
“The dog ran off just as its owner arrived at the scene and the owner gave chase. I have not seen either of them since.”
She added: “I would like to thank the men who assisted me and would like to know if the dog survived its injuries.”
She said the dog’s owner was a man aged about 25.
Mrs Ricketts said the elderly woman driver, aged about 80, was shocked by the experience.
