Children enjoy books and fancy dress during national event
Children were enthralled by gripping tales and arts and crafts during National Libraries Day celebration on Saturday.
Across Slough and the Royal Borough, libraries marked the occasion by organising a series of fun activities to celebrate books and the pleasures of reading.
Activities included fancy dress competitions and storytelling.
Among those having fun were young detectives using their sleuthing skills during a treasure trail at Britwell Library.
Armed with a series of clues they ventured to all areas of the Wentworth Avenue venue, answering questions on topics including the Olympics and Harry Potter.
Prizes were awarded for completing the trail and included bendy pencils, notebooks and glow in the dark body bands.
"Children have also been picking out their favourite books and telling other children why they enjoyed them," said Fozia Shiekh, the senior library assistant.
