Couple celebrate 30 years at village post office

FIRST CLASS: Narinder Singh Battoo, 74, and Mohinder Kaur Battoo, 72, have been running Colnbrook Post Office for 30 years.

Narinder Singh Battoo, 74, and Mohinder Kaur Battoo, 72, have been running the post office since 1981 and celebrated their 30th anniversary at the Park Street venue on Saturday.

The couple, who live above the post shop, have three sons including Satinder Battoo, who helps run the family business, and six grandchildren.

Originally from Kenya, the duo came to Colnbrook after Narinder retired from being a teacher and he soon brought the post office.

He said: "Probably the first year was the hardest, getting used to it all but it has been nice ever since."

Narinder, who enjoys walking and is a member of Slough Chess Club, praised his wife and family for all their help over the years.
