Threat to society originally formed to celebrate Queen's jubilee

ourpic-queenA village society formed to celebrate the Queen's Silver Jubilee 35 years ago faces an uncertain future.

The Farnhams' Society's chairman Mark Frater warned this week: "We urgently need an influx of new blood into the society and on the management committee - including most importantly a secretary.

"If we are unsuccessful in attracting new blood onto the committee and strengthening the society then we may have to consider its future. The next annual meeting is on Tuesday where a decision will have to be made."

Membership of the society has been in sharp decline in recent years, although events such as theatre trips, Christmas suppers and walks remain popular with a committed core.

The committee wants to hear from people who can carry on the society for a further 25 years.
