Appeal for witnesses after High Street assault

gen_police-jacketPolice made a renewed appeal for witnesses this afternoon after a serious assault in Slough High Street in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A man in his 30s has since been operated on for head injuries and further surgery looks likely. He was assaulted by three men outside Slough Central Library about 2.30am.

Police said the victim is in a ‘stable but critical condition’.

The three men are black; one about 5ft 7in, aged mid-twenties, with short black hair. The other two were similar height. There is no indication of a weapon being used in the attack.

Det Con Emma Mullenga, investigating officer, said: “There were lots of people around the area at that time and we would urge anyone in the vicinity of the library to come forward as they may be potential witnesses.”

Call her via the 24-hour police enquiry centre on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

A 34-year-old man arrested after the incident has been released without charge.

In a separate incident at about 4.30pm yesterday an 18-year-old youth was assaulted in Wentworth Avenue, Britwell, and sustained a minor stab wound.

Three teenagers arrested in connection with the incident were released on bail until March 5.
