Fire crews investigate chemical spill

gen fireengineFirefighters were called out to Lonza Biologics in Slough this morning after a person was taken to hospital to be treated for chemical inhalation.

Two crews from Slough, a special response unit from Whitley Wood and the command and control unit from Reading went to the firm in Bath Road after being called out by the ambulance service to investigate an unknown chemical spillage just after 7am.

A Berkshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said that two firefighters with breathing apparatus had gone in to carry out further investigations and the incident was ongoing.

Police were called out at 7.18am to reports of a chemical spillage. Officers helped evacuate the building

A police spokesman said a clean up operation had begun.
