Birth centre at Wexham Park Hospital gets funding boost

Staff at the ISIS Birth Centre at Wexham Park Hospital were delighted to hear the unit will be receiving £55,000 following a successful bid for funding.

The funding is from the Government’s £25m Maternity Unit Makeover initiative.

Julie Watson, head of midwifery, said: “This is excellent news.

"Our ISIS Birth Centre currently provides one of the best midwife-led services in the whole of the south central area and our care pathway is considered the gold standard which other hospitals seek to emulate.

"We are constantly looking for innovative ways to make the birthing experience one where the mum feels in control and is supported by her family and our staff as much as possible.

"We intend to use the money to expand the water birth facilities and the alternative therapy services which we currently offer."
