Board poised to make decision on mental health inpatients
Months of discussion about the future of mental health inpatients in Wexham Park Hospital will come to a head on Tuesday.
The recommendation being discussed by the NHS Berkshire PCT Cluster Board is that all mental health beds in Slough, Ascot and Maidenhead should move to Prospect Park Hospital in Reading, it was revealed today.
A time-scale has not been discussed but it is thought the Wexham Park Hospital ward will be the first to move.
The report to the board said the move should go hand in hand with increased investment in community mental health services and transport for relatives and carers who face longer journeys.
The public board meeting is at 10am at The Centre in Farnham Road, Slough.
