Two thugs who kicked and stamped on their victim leaving him with a bleed on the brain have been jailed.

Naveed Bashir, 21, of Gilliat Road, Slough and 20-year-old Sohail Khan, of Mirador Crescent, Wexham, were sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Tuesday.

A 42-year-old man was the victim of their appalling relentless attack outside the Golden Cross pub in Wexham Road in the early hours of October 5.

They kicked and stamped on him repeatedly, even when he was laying defenceless on the ground.

It left him with a bleed on the brain, swelling and cuts to the head, face and upper body.

Detective Constable Alex Gresty, said: "This is an appalling offence where the victim received a serious head injury.

"It took the intervention of members of public to stop the assault, acting bravely to protect the victim.

"The sentencing reflects the callousness of the actions of the two responsible."

Bashir got nine years while Khan, who was also sentenced for a robbery, got a total of 11 years.

They had both pleaded guilty to GBH with intent on December 7.
