Pupils cook up a treat to celebrate Chinese New Year
Chefs handed over the reins as pupils took to the kitchen to celebrate the Chinese New Year in Cippenham.
Students from The Westgate School, Cippenham Lane, were taught how to make spring rolls at the Bugis Street Brasserie, based at the Copthorne Hotel in Cippenham Lane, today.
About 20 GCSE hospitality and catering pupils were shown the ropes before making their own spring rolls, which they later enjoyed along with a main course at the restaurant, which opened in September last year.
David Faull, the hotel's general manager, said: "We do quite a lot with the school and with our new restaurant it was a perfect opportunity to mark the Chinese New Year.
"It was nice for them to be able to go into the kitchen and we intend to be even more supportive this year as it's the first year they've done the GCSE course."
2012 is the year of the dragon.
