Plans for a temporary VIP coach park in Colnbrook during the Olympics and Paralympics are set to go ahead. The application for 387 luxury coaches and 25 car parking spaces as well as toilets and offices, in Poyle Place in Horton Road for the duration of the Games, was considered at a planning meeting at The Centre in Farnham Road on Thursday last week.

A 12-hour 'tweetathon' by Slough Borough Council started at 8am today. Up until 8pm, the council will be tweeting what is happening with the hundreds of services it provides to local residents, offering a sneak peak behind the scenes. From the weird to the wonderful and the marvellous to the mundane, what the council is up to on a minute by minute basis will be laid out for all to read.

Drinks Direct

An off-licence in Langley High Street has been officially 'Yellow Carded' for selling alcohol and cigarettes to an under-age volunteer during a 'sting'. The official reprimand has been given to Drinks Direct Supermarket Ltd by Slough Borough Council's licensing sub-committee. If the firm does not comply with strict conditions it could have its licence revoked.

Voters have been heading to the polls all day in this year's Slough elections. Forty-seven candidates have thrown their names into the hat in 14 wards, with one seat being contested in each ward. Polling stations opened at 7am and close at 10pm. Votes will be counted and results announced at Montem Leisure Centre.

Wyeth

A decision over plans to build more than 50 homes at the former Wyeth Pharmaceuticals site will be made on Thursday. Slough Borough Council's planning commitee will discuss Taylor Wimpey's plans to build 52 houses and two flats at the site in Huntercombe Lane South, Taplow.

The number of proposed homes has been reduced in the application from 59 to 54.
