The incident happened in Canterbury Avenue at about 10.30pm.

A person, or group of persons, threw an object that was either already lit, or caught alight, through an open door at the back of a property.

Police did not have a description of the person, or provide details as to whether how many people were involved.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Richard Vint, said: “I am urgently appealing to anyone who knows anything about this incident to please come forward.

“I would particularly like to hear from anyone who was in the area of Canterbury Avenue at about 10.30pm yesterday.

“This is an extremely serious offence that could have had dire consequences but I am just thankful that no-one was injured.

“However, to reassure the community at this stage of the investigation we believe this to be isolated incident.”
