With COVID-19 safety measures in place, Sunningdale Bowling Club started their 2021 season with the first leg of their annual Ascot Cup match against Windsor Great Park.
Despite the game being played out on the wettest day of April the match was a competitive one, with Great Park taking a lead into the second leg at Sunningdale on June 9.
This Saturday a team from Bishop Duppas claimed a 78-55 win over hosts Sunningdale while on Sunday Sunningdale edged out opponents from Odiham and North Warnborough 45-39. Best of their rinks was that of Simon Dyson, Colin Shefford and John Turner (skip).
The club is keen to hear from those who are interested in playing the game, especially those who have played competitive sports and are now looking for a less strenuous activity to continue in competitive sports. There are regular events, club days and opportunities to socialise with other club members.
With a view to increasing their membership, Sunningdale is holding a Try Bowls Day on Saturday, May 8, from 11am to 4pm at the club in Whitmore Lane, Sunningdale. All equipment will be provided but those who attend should wear flat soled shoes.
