There was one last title for County legend Maggie Scrace, who retires after more than forty years of competitive bowls.
Saturday marked the season finale at Maidenhead Thicket Bowls Club which saw Scrace claim the County pairs title with Sue Goodchild.
Thirty members celebrated Scrace and much more besides in the September sunshine after one of the Club’s most successful seasons in recent history.
John Burton claimed the Chris Pheby trophy, narrowly defeating Gordon Knapper.
The trio of Russell Harper, Gordon Knapper and captain Kevin Scrace claimed the County triples title to cap a great day across the board.
Further County success was achieved for the ladies courtesy of Gemma Hanks, who earned a full county badge.
In the internal club competitions, Kevin Scrace and Nicola Jones were crowned Club Champions and will go on to represent the club in the Champion of Champions event next year.
Overall it’s been a hugely pleasing season both on and off the green for Maidenhead Thicket with over £2,500 raised in support of charity.
