Desborough Bowls Club hosted an international match between England and Malaysia last month.
England held the upper hand through-out the contest, but the game was a terrific advert for the sport and Desborough hopes to attract further high-profile matches in the future.
The Malaysians, in particular, were impressed with the Green Lane facilities and are considering using it as a training base for next year’s Commonwealth Games.
In other club news, Desborough’s Egham Trophy campaign came to a premature and disappointing end as they lost 90-70 to Whiteknights.
Desborough were generally second best on most rinks, however, there were a couple of winning teams skipped by Kevin Scrace and Malcolm Woodley.
