Desborough's women have made it through to the third round of the Yetton Cup where they'll play Swindon Manor on December 11.
The women's team claimed a decisive 86-80 victory over Handy Cross and were given great support by teammates and members for the matches at Green Lane.
The best of their rinks was skipped by Helen Jones (29-14) and there were also solid victories for those skipped by Lorraine Woodley (21-17) and Mary Price (19-18), and, although Jenny Morgan's team were beaten 31-17 in one of the two away matches, they had enough shots in the bank to progress.
Desborough's men's team were hoping for similar success in their Denny Trophy match against Westlecot, but, against strong opposition they were beaten 80-66.
Desborough lost by only 14 shots and their players produced a creditable performance but in each but one of the rinks they were edged out by a handful of shots.
Kevin Scrace skipped the team's only victory (22-18) while the rinks skipped by John McGuinness, Malcolm Wood and Colin Jones all lost by six shots.
On Sunday (November 21) the club hosted BERKS CIBA in a determined effort to win their first County Bannerette for several years.
But in an enjoyable, sociable affair, Desborough could not match their opponents as the County ran out winners by 40 shots.
