Burnham manager Paul Shone is confident his side can get the work they need done over the summer to be competitive at the right end of the Hellenic League Premier table this season.
The Blues are already into their second week of preparation for the upcoming season giving Shone plenty to think about.
“Saturday the conditions were very tough,” said Shone.
“ But by all accounts we were very worth winners.
“Last night (Tuesday) was a good test too – Kings Langley are an established Southern Premier side, they’ve got some good players and it was a really good workout.”
Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat to Kings Langley followed Saturday’s 5-2 victory against Camberley and Shone is looking forward to the start of the new season.
“As always pre-season is tough but it’s all about getting ready to start in August,” added Shone.
“With the players we are bringing in and the two new backroom staff too we are looking to push on up the leagues. “That was the goal when I came in and that hasn’t changed. There will be a lot of teams wanting to be competitive at the right end of the table and we are no different.”
