A Maidenhead club supporting those who have suffered a stroke received a donation of £1,000 from the Millennium Trust of the Rotary Club of Maidenhead Thames.
The funds will go towards Maidenhead & District Stroke Club’s (MDSC) annual Christmas party which is taking place at Cox Green Community Centre on Friday, December 12.
This is the club’s biggest event of the year and spreads awareness of the club and its support for stroke survivors.
A cheque was recently presented to the club’s volunteer and chairman Neil Symons by Stephan Stephan, trustee and secretary of the Rotary Club of Maidenhead Thames Millennium Trust.
Neil succeeded his mum Fran, who was a founder member of the club, and passed away in 2020.
He has been volunteering for 17 years and continues his work with the help of a group of trustees and volunteers.
Those affected by a stroke have been welcomed to the club for more than 35 years.
The group provides an opportunity for members to socialise with others of similar conditions.
The club currently has around 50 members and meets fortnightly on Fridays between 10am and noon at Cox Green Community Centre to enjoy refreshments and a catch-up.
New members are encouraged to join and bring along a family member or carer if they wish.
