A dominant performance with bat and ball saw White Waltham ease to a 111-run victory over Reading 2nds in TVL 4B, as openers Chris Metherell and Sam Warren put on a batting clinic before Ben Scarborough smashed an undefeated 82 in the win.
The White Waltham openers were clearly in the mood as they put together a 103-run partnership to give the hosts a near-perfect start. Metherall fell lbw to Dani Katuri, before Reading put the brakes on their hosts run scoring as Nikhil Jathavedan (3) and Jonathan Mahoney (7) struggled to deal with the bowling of Aditya Srinivasan (3-56). Just as Reading thought they found White Waltham’s number, Andy Elliot (31) and Ben Scarborough (82no) put together a 78-run partnership before Scarborough ploughed on for the rest of the innings, making 11 fours and four sixes in an impressive batting display as White Waltham posted a total of 281.
And they were just as cut-throat with the ball in hand as Jaitej Walia (1-30) caught opener Vikramjit Sidhu for two. Khurram Mahmood. Reading captain, top-scored for his side with a knock of 39, but Max Ring (3-53) and Luke Beard’s (4-37) del-
iveries caused too many issues as White Waltham won with less than nine overs to go.
