A lack of application – and adaptation to the conditions – saw Little Marlow spiral to defeat against Frieth in Chilterns League Premier 2.
Inserted on a green pitch a succession of batsmen departed to soft dismissals – mainly to Essan Maqbool who took 5-15 in seven overs – as the hosts nosedived to 81 all out.
They fought back well with the ball, with Uzair Hassan and off-spinner Arfan Sharif claiming two victims apiece but they were unable to shift Abdul Karim who closed on 39 not out. Five of his colleagues succumbed for single figures but Frieth completed a five wicket win in the 23rd over.
Little Marlow’s second team got over the line with six overs in hand in a high scoring affair at Penn & Tylers Green 2nds.
Bat dominated ball in this match, with Penn posting 260-4 from 44 overs.
But Little Marlow showed their resolve with Neil Lancum (39no) and Steve Shore (21no) sharing a late stand to take them to victory.
