Marlow continued their climb up TVL Division 2A as Saturday’s three-wicket victory over Chesham 2nds lifted them to fourth.
Marlow made light work of Chesham’s top order before going on to chase down their visitors target of 145.
Having won the toss Chesham opted to bat first but their top order failed to get going as Harry Williams (2-16) and Matt Kidd (2-17) made sure David Hughes-D’Aeth (5), Mark Hughes D’Aeth (9) and Edward Turner (1) all fell without hitting double figures.
Todd Bamber (34) was the man to add some substance to the Chesham innings as he drove the total forwards before Maxine Blyth (24) and Luke Dawson (24) took over after Bamber fell at 59-4. Marlow captain Imran Nawaz took three-wickets at the tailend as Chesham ended their innings at 144-10. Nawaz (10) and Joe Brown (17) opened with a 15-run partnership, before Segio Feede (34) drove Marlow forwards after Nawaz was caught by his Chesham captain Alex Watson.
Feede put together a solid 40-run partnership with Tom Bryant (27) as Marlow edged closer to their target at 108-4, where Feede was run out by Turner.
Bryant fell at 115-5 before Gary Lines joined him in the clubhouse four runs later – leaving Marlow to sweat, but Phil Lines’ 11 pushed Marlow to 128-7.
Harry Spear came in the make sure the hosts did not squander their opportunity for a victory as his 16 not out alongside Matt Foy’s single secured the win and 25 points for Marlow.
