Maidenhead & Bray never looked in danger of producing an upset against TVCL Division 2A league leaders Eversley as they fell to a 124-run defeat on Saturday.
The result continues Bray’s poor form this season, with just two wins on the board from their six games thus far.
Having won the toss, the hosts elected to put Eversley in to bat and the league leaders were in a run-scoring mood as Jack Ford (68) and James Magowan (5) got things going.
Shabbir Mookhtiar (2-24) and John Child (3-79) kept the
visitors on their toes as Magowan and Tom Howorth (2) were both caught under pressure from Mookhtiar.
Tom Nichols showed just why Eversley lead the way undefeated this season as he played his way to an unbeaten 81, before Byron Hickman (29) and Sturart Lipo (33no) made sure of a strong ending to the visitors’ innings.
The competitive 235-5 total for Eversley looked a tall order for Bray and it was one they never really looked like chasing down. Will Cunliffe (4) and Pieter Ethan Walker (19) both fell to Ben Barnard (3-22) before Ben Ward Jnr (1), Kieran Grey (4) and Patrick Searing (0) all fell without really aiding the cause. George Parsons (31) and Ed Denman (33) did well to get the runs going again but, with their chase running out of steam, Eversley became ruthless with the ball, cutting apart the Bray lower order to pick up the win.
