Little Marlow continue to struggle in the Chilterns Cricket League Premier 2 after they were beaten by Bourne End.
The six-wicket defeat saw Little Marlow bowled out for 171 after an inconsistent innings, while their visitors had Mohammed Hameed to thank as his century paved the way for victory.
Marlow were put into bat and a strong 43-run opening stand between Richard Tinsley (40) and Anwar Mahmood (22) got the hosts off to a steady start. But a middle order collapse at the hands of Raja Umer (4-32) took Little Marlow off course as they slipped to 70-4. Umar Islam (32) steadied the ship before he too fell to Umer, while Andrew St Maur added 29 runs at the tail end to bring the hosts in a 171 all out.
The Bourne End innings started shakily as Nasir Kiyani fell at 14-1 before Khawar Naseem was dismissed at 28-2. But despite Raghu Mammidipalli (2-14) and Umar Islam (2-47) both taking two wickets, they were not able to stop Hameed playing his way to 100 on the dot, as the batsmen – supported by Raja Zubair Mehmood (37no) – did the bulk of the damage to get Bourne End over the line for the victory.
