Historic rooms at Windsor Castle will be adorned with shimmering trees, garlands and foliage this Christmas.

Guests to the castle will enjoy a festive experience ‘steeped in Royal history’ from Thursday, November 27 to Monday, January 5.

In St George’s Hall, the biggest room in the castle, a towering 20-foot-high Nordmann Fir Tree, grown in Windsor Great Park, will be adorned with thousands of sparkling lights and shimmering gold and green ornaments.

Dramatic garlands will cover the room’s balconies under the famous vaulted ceiling.

In the Crimson Drawing Room, one of the Semi-State Rooms, which is only open during the winter months, the rich red silk walls and gilded details will provide the backdrop for a dazzling 16-foot-high Christmas tree.

Inside Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House, guests can discover a tiny Christmas tree and festive garlands, complete with ornaments made out of glass beads that have been re-purposed from vintage necklaces and small candles made with real candle wax.

St George’s Chapel will be open to castle visitors on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and daily services are open to all, seven days a week.

The Advent period leading up to Christmas starts on Sunday, December 1.

The Undercroft Café in the oldest part of the castle will serve a seasonal menu.

There will also be Festive Family Fun activities on offer during the Christmas holidays, inspired by Victorian traditions.

These will include arts and crafts activities where youngsters can make a Christmas memento to take home.

Visitors can also enjoy an exclusive evening tour of the State Apartments at Windsor Castle on selected dates in November and December.

There will also be £1 tickets available for Windsor Castle visitors who are receiving Universal Credit or other named benefits.

Across the Royal residences and online, the Royal Trust Shops are offering up a range of items, including new mini 20cl bottles of gin, infused with botanicals hand-picked from the gardens at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle.

The Property of the Royal Kitchen range, featuring kitchen accessories inspired by the ‘oldest working kitchen in the country’, the Great Kitchen at Windsor Castle, is also available.
