Wokingham’s MP Clive Jones kicked off the festive season in Twyford earlier this month as he officially switched on the village’s Christmas lights.

The event, sponsored by Goodall-Smith Wealth Management raised donations for Building For The Future (BFTF).

The charity provides support, activities and therapy for children with disabilities and additional needs.

Mr Jones joined Amy Goodall-Smith and Jane Holmes, CEO and founder of BFTF at the event.

The switch-on of the Tree of Christmas Wishes, was powered by Parkers Properies and decorated by the Goodall-Smith Wealth Management team with support from Treetop Landscapes and Twyford Together.

The tree is adorned with decorations from pupils at The Colleton Primary School, Charvil Piggott and Polehampton Junior schools.

The light switch-on was followed by Twyford Together’s Christmas Fayre, which featured a range of stalls run by local residents, charities, craftspeople and businesses.

Mr Jones bought local produce, enjoying mulled wine made by Age Concern Twyford & District and a pasty made by the Rural Pie Co.

He said: “It was an absolute pleasure to take part in the Christmas light switch-on for the benefit of Building for the Future, an incredible charity based here in Wokingham.

“The evening was only made possible by the many sponsors, including Goodall-Smith Wealth Management, and by the wonderful community spirit shown by everyone involved.

“Twyford Together once again put on a series of fantastic events, showcasing the very best of our local groups, schools and businesses.

“These events remind us how strong our local community is, and I was delighted to celebrate the start of the festive season alongside so many local residents.”
