Do you think Kajal Malhotra deserves recognition for her role in Maidenhead United Women’s squad this season?
What about giving a nod to a referee who has admirably mentored several young men and women?
Nominations are open for the 2023 Eddie Stobart Logistics Berkshire Football Awards proudly presented by independent and volunteer led Football in Berkshire.
Taking place on Wednesday, June 21 at Double-Barrelled Brewery in Reading, the awards evening, which celebrates the great and the good in the local football scene, will be once again hosted by Sky Sports News’ Tom White with hot food and cold beverages available.
There are 16 categories this year – one brand new – with 15 open to the public.
Speaking to the Advertiser this week, Tom Canning of Football in Berkshire said: “The awards are back and we’re delighted. The folks at Double-Barrelled Brewery have kindly allowed us to use their facility again and we have got a much-loved Tom White coming back.
“Sixteen awards are up for grabs and we have included a new award this year – ‘Correspondent of the Season’. Kajal Malhotra has been nominated for ‘Player of the Season (Female)’ – her Maidenhead United teammates giving her the recognition she deserves – while Jonathan Biss, who I believe is involved a lot with Burnham Juniors, has been nominated for ‘Referee of the Season’. That’s the award I feel is incredibly special. The things that they have to deal with is quite phenomenal and why some of them bother at times is beyond me.
“You’ve also got the ‘Supporter of the Season’ award which was won by Ian Dawson – Windsor FC fan – last year and ‘Volunteer of the Season’ which is always keenly contested. You can nominate who you like in the various categories on our website. It’s incredibly important to give recognition.
“It’s going to be a great evening with some lovely food and some lovely beer.”
Nominations are open until Wednesday, May 31 and tickets for the evening will be available when the awards shortlist is published on Monday, June 5.
