Thatcham Town 0, Maidenhead United 2
Maidenhead United netted twice in the second half as they eventually saw off a resolute Thatcham Town for their second pre-season victory.
The Magpies travelled to step 5 Thatcham off the back of a routine 3-0 win over Flackwell Heath at Wilks Park in mid-week, however, this warm-up match was a little less straight forward.
The Kingfishers gave a pretty good account for themselves over the course of the 90 minutes and thwarted a United side featuring several trialists for much of the game.
One of those trialists forced a few chances for the visitors in the first half, however, no one in yellow was able to take them. Sam Beckwith caused momentary panic in the Thatcham defence with a dangerous ball into the box, but the hosts managed to clear the danger. At the other end Zico Asare was forced to head the ball over his own crossbar under pressure as the home side looked to break the deadlock.
Having looked a little sluggish in the first half, the National League visitors were much improved after the interval and deservedly took the lead through Temi Eweka's flicked header from Kevin Lokko's cross in the 55th minute.
United continued to press, with Lewis Kinsella flighting in a free kick that Kane Ferdinand headed just over the bar, while Trialist F struck the frame of the post from Reece Smith's pass.
New signing Harry Parsons was a constant threat in attack however, his luck was out as he was twice foiled by the Thatcham keeper.
The home side might have snatched a leveller with a header that flashed narrowly wide, but the Magpies were able to seal the win with a goal from Lokko, who forced home a Kinsella corner late on.
United are back in action tomorrow evening when they travel to Clarence Park to take on St Albans City, 7.45pm kick-off.

Slough Town 1, Brentford B 1 (Friday)
More than 650 fans were in attendance to see Slough Town secure a 1-1 draw with a young Brentford XI at Arbour Park.
Scott Davies’ side fell behind to the young Bees before the break, however, they snatched a late equaliser when Emmanuel Robe took advantage of a defensive mishap to score.
Their leveller came just seconds after Davies’ free kick hit the bar not once but twice, and the Rebels were able to capitalise on some confused and panicky play in the Brentford defence.
The Rebels visit Thatcham Town tomorrow evening (Tuesday) and Risborough Rangers on Wednesday, both 7.45pm kick-offs.
