Slough Town 2, Farnborough 2
Slough Town were frustrated by a late goal in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Farnborough at Arbour Park, but the point saw Scott Davies' side stretch their unbeaten home run to 11 matches in all competitions.
Having won last month's FA Trophy clash between the pair, Slough had high hopes of another positive performance heading into the game, and they looked to be on the verge of a repeat 2-1 scoreline in the league until Michael Folivi equalised for the visitors in the last 10 minutes.
The result - while by no means a disastrous one on paper - sees the Rebels slip back a place to 20th in the National League South table and they're now outside of the bottom four on goal difference alone.
The first half was a topsy-turvy affair with Farnborough taking the lead through Folivi's seventh minute strike, however, the visitors found themselves behind inside 25 minutes as goals from Dan Bayliss and Nathan Minhas turned the game on its head.
However, the early goal seemed to shake Slough from their slumbers and within seven minutes they were back on terms when an inswinging corner from Matt Lench picked out central defender Bayliss at the back post and he forced the ball past ex-Rebel Jack Turner.
Minhas - who also scored in the Trophy win less than a month ago - then put the Rebels ahead midway through the half when he made the most of David Ogbonna's electric wing play to slot home the hosts' second.
With Ogbonna in elusive form the Rebels continued to dominate, however, they weren't able to add to their advantage before half-time.
Much like they did in the Trophy tie, Boro looked like a different animal after the restart and grip Slough seemingly had on the game was loosened.
The home side might have made the game safe with efforts from Munashe Sundire and Bayliss, who both fired wide of the mark, however, the game wasn't put to bed and that lack of conviction in attack was punished in the 80th minute when Folivi fired home his second of the game. Farnborough were able to frustrate the Rebels' attempts to restore their lead late on and a draw felt about right given Farnborough's tenacious second half display. This result moves them up to 11th, but Slough have shown in recent weeks and months, they're every bit Farnborough's equal, and Davies will be hoping to see his side pull away from the drop zone when they get a chance to play their matches in hand.
The first of those comes on Tuesday evening when they welcome Hemel Hempstead Town to Arbour Park.
Afterwards, Davies posted: “We weren’t at our best so to pick up a point at home isn’t the end of the world against a good Farnborough side.
“Delighted to hear that there was no trouble and that’s how it should be between the two clubs where staff and players get on well. Onto Tuesday we go.”
