Slough Town have announced the signing of 21-year-old forward Jared Myers, with the player having impressed Scott Davies and the Rebels coaching team as a trialist during pre-season.
Myers, who can play as a winger or as a striker, has been on trial with the Rebels during pre-season, featuring in several of their friendlies so far.
He joins the club from Isthmian League South Central Division club Bedfont Sports having netted 28 league goals last season.
In total, Myers has made 73 appearances for Bedfont, scoring 39 goals and contributing a further 18 assists, and Davies clearly feels he’s ready to make the jump to step 2 football.
Myers is already off the mark in Rebels colours as well, having scored twice in their opening friendly win over Virginia Water on July 4.
Davies said: “Jared is someone that we’ve known about for a while now. Several people that have watched or played against Bedfont have notified us of his potential.
“In the summer, Barry Chapman (Bedfont Sports manager) contacted me through Alex Wines, who he knows well, and asked if he could join training with us.
“Since Jared has arrived, I think he’s been excellent and once again fits the bill of what we like in a young player. He’s definitely raw, but his attributes are very strong, and we are looking forward to working with him and hoping that we can develop his game in the meantime.
“Thanks to Barry and Bedfont Sports for working with us on this occasion.”
Slough are now firmly in the flow of pre-season, having played four friendly matches so far as they build up to their opening National League South fixture at Tonbridge Angels on Saturday, August 9.
It’s been a summer of comings and goings at Arbour Park, but the club have moved swiftly to replace those players who have moved on. So far, they’ve signed Kiki Oshilaja, Adam Desbois, Tyrese Dyce, Jordan Greenidge, Reiss Greenidge, Tyrique Clarke, Wiktor Makowski, Jaiden Drakes-Thomas, Peter Ojemen and Tarik Gidaree and Jared Myers.
