Marlow Men’s 1sts travelled to Wallingford and, despite looking comfortable for most of the match, were made to fight for their 3-2 win.
Lewis Goodman opened the scoring before the break and doubled his tally with 20 minutes to go in the second half. Marlow were enjoying the lion’s share of possession but were stunned when the bottom-of-the-league side scored twice in quick succession to level the scores.
But Marlow remained confident and Goodman completed his hat-trick with a well-taken penalty stroke in the 69th minute to hand the visitors the win.
James Ward was on target as Marlow claimed a 1-1 draw with Oxford Uni 2nds on Tuesday. The first team are back in action on Saturday as they host Witney.
Elsewhere, the 2nds picked up a 4-2 victory against South Berkshire 1sts – with James Ashburner and Dan Merrell each grabbing a brace – while the 3rds beat Wycombe 3-2, with Ben Swales scoring twice alongside a goal from Daniel Meryrick.
The Ladies first team secured promotion with a 2-2 draw against top-of-the- league Guildford.
Kerri Smith scored twice and the point means the ladies will play in the South One Division next season, the highest Marlow have ever played at.
There was more joy for the Marlow Juniors as the u10s girls were crowned Bucks champions alongside the u10 boys, meaning Marlow hold four county titles at youth level.
