Maidenhead Hockey Club have appointed the England and Great Britain international David Ames to their coaching staff.
Ames is set to coach the men’s 1st team through the forthcoming season alongside its existing team, headed up by Rohit Kapoor.
David is a level two qualified coach and represented Great Britain at the 2016 Olympics in Rio. He has 93 England and Great Britain caps and 64 caps for Ireland.
David and Rohit will lead the coaching for the men’s section on Tuesday evenings at Altwood School (8-10pm).
Men’s captain Viren Walia, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming David to the club. I am confident he will make a valuable addition to the coaching team here and I know our players are excited to have him on board."
Lindsey Lucas, chair of the club added: "I am sure that David will have a positive impact. Whether you are already a member, are thinking about joining a team or getting back into hockey, there is still time to sign up - and all are welcome. We have teams for all ages and abilities and it's a great opportunity to get out, get active and to make friends.”
Tuesday evening training sessions have this week commenced ahead of the new season. Ladies training sessions take place on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. The sessions are being run in accordance with current government guidelines relating to COVID-19.
