Maidenhead Men’s 1sts suffered their heaviest defeat of the season, losing 11-1 at leaders Oxford University to keep them looking nervously over their shoulder at the teams below.

Phil Cowell’s side are looking to ensure they finish outside of the bottom two in the South Central Men’s Premier Division 1, however, their recent form has taken a turn for the worse with the side losing four of their last five matches.

Saturday’s disastrous result leaves them 10th in the table, four points above second from bottom Slough, albeit with a game in hand on most of their rivals.

Maids have clearly struggled to get to grips with the league leaders this season, losing their two games by an aggregate score of 17-1.

They have five games left to salvage a bit of pride from the season – and hopefully avoid the drop – starting at home to fourth placed Reading 2nds on Saturday, a team they managed an impressive goalless draw with back in January. They then visit mid-table Bournemouth before hosting bottom of the table Milton Keynes in what is shaping up to be a must-win game for Maids. They’ll finish the season in April with games at Winchester and home to third placed Banbury.

Maidenhead Women’s 1sts look set to finish the South Central Women’s Premier Division 1 season in mid-table after successive league defeats left them sixth.

Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to bottom of the table Winchester must rank as one of the season’s most disappointing and it followed up a 2-0 loss to leaders Oxford Hawks the week before.

Winchester hadn’t managed a win all season before arriving at Altwood School, so the result is especially difficult to fathom. Winchester also managed to score two of their 11 goals this season in just one game.

Maids have just three games left to respond this season, starting at fifth-placed Amersham & Chalfont on Saturday, the team just above them in the table on goal difference. They’ll then round off the campaign with games against two sides just below them in the standings, Bournemouth at home and Fareham away.
