Maidenhead United to begin FA Cup quest at either Chippenham Town or Hendon FC

Maidenhead United will begin this season’s FA Cup journey with a visit to either Chippenham Town or Hendon FC in the fourth qualifying round on Saturday, October 20.

Chippenham Town, from the National League South, will take on Southern League Premier Division Hendon FC in the third qualifying round on Wednesday evening. Hendon proved too strong for Lancing in the second qualifying round on Sunday, winning 4-0 away from home.

Maidenhead last faced Chippenham Town in the Southern League in 2006/7 with the home side recording a 2-1 victory over a promotion bound Magpies side. The club’s last visit to Hendon was back in April 2004 for an Isthmian League fixture, Lawrence Yaku netting in a 3-1 defeat.

Last season the Magpies beat Havant & Waterlooville 2-1 at home to make it through to the first round of the competition. Ryan Upward scored the Magpies late winner with a wonderful volley.

They bowed out after being beaten 2-0 by former Premier League club Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena, despite putting up a competitive display.

If Slough Town can overcome Bristol Manor Farm in tomorrow night’s replay they will travel to National League South rivals Eastbourne Borough in the fourth qualifying round. The tie would be played on Saturday, October 20.

The Rebels were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Southern League Division 1 South side Manor Farm on Saturday.
