Football preview: Maidenhead United face trip to in-form Eastleigh

Maidenhead United will bid to end a streak of seven league matches without victory when they visit Eastleigh this evening.

United have tumbled down the table in recent weeks having failed to taste victory since their impressive 3-0 away win at Sutton United at the end of August.

United were well up in the play-off places back then but have slipped to 16th, three points off the relegation places ahead of tonight’s trip to the Silverlake Stadium.

Saturday saw them lose 1-0 on home turf to new league leaders Halifax Town.

Like many of the sides Maidenhead have faced in recent weeks, Eastleigh, 14th, have found some form of late having won at both Torquay United and Chesterfield in recent away matches.

“Eastleigh have found some form,” said Magpies’ assistant Ryan Peters.

“And we’ve got quite a few injuries out at the moment, which is hampering us. But look we’ll put this (Halifax Town defeat) behind us, we’ll gather our thoughts and we’ll look ahead to Tuesday.”

Elsewhere, Slough Town will play their FA Cup replay with Chippenham Town at Arbour Park this evening, after Ryan Bird’s injury-time header rescued a 3-3 draw on Saturday. The winners will visit Whyteleafe in the final qualifying round of the competition.

Marlow are set to host FC Romania in their Velocity Trophy Group 5 fixture at Oak Tree Road.

Ascot United are set to return to the Racecourse Ground this evening to play their first match over six months.

The club are offering free entry to their Combined Counties League home match against Guildford City, with the ground having been redeveloped and a new artificial surface laid down.

In the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup Flackwell Heath will host Shrivenham at Wilks Park (7.45pm kick-off) and Windsor are set to visit Wantage Town (7.45pm kick-off).
