Megan and Neil to lap York Road 150 times for Magpies 150 Challenge

Megan Robson and Neil Maskell are preparing to lap York Road 150 times to raise money for the Magpies 150 Challenge.

Academy therapist Megan and fixtures secretary Neil, will roughly cover 48kilometres, or 29.8miles, when they lap the historic ground later this month.

Together they’re aiming to raise as much money as they can for the club’s charity initiative, which will see 15 charities in Maidenhead and Windsor benefit in the club’s 150th year. To prepare for the challenge Megan has been running 10k shuttles from her home in Cox Green to York Road, and she’s also found some other ways to add funds to the kitty. She’s already raised £80 through selling home-made facemasks and, as the owner of her own sports therapy business, she’s donated a pound for each of the first 150 patients she’s seen since lockdown was lifted. A leader at the local Brownies group, she’s also encouraging them to take on a challenge for the initiative.

“I am Maidenhead born and bred so these charities mean a lot to me,” said Megan. “Hopefully my training runs will stand me in good stead for walking nearly 30 miles around the ground. We’d love to have people support us via our JustGiving page, or failing that if people want to pop in and check on our progress on Friday, August 28 – and maybe join us in a lap or two – we will have a bucket down at the ground for any generous donations.”
