Maidenhead United strengthen community bond with 'meet and greet' at Braywick Leisure Centre

Maidenhead United’s squad posed for photographs and signed autographs at a ‘meet and greet’ for Magpies’ fans at Braywick Leisure Centre on Saturday.

The players used the facilities for a recovery session following their 1-1 friendly draw with Reading’s u23s the previous evening and spent an hour interacting with fans, strengthening the club’s bond with the town and community.

Leisure Focus, which operates Braywick Leisure Centre, are one of the club’s leisure partners and new season ticket sponsors for the 2021/21 campaign.

The new facility was opened last summer and offers a wide range of leisure, recreational and cultural facilities under one roof.

Manager Alan Devonshire enjoyed catching up with supporters, having missed their presence at games throughout last season. The bad weather may have deterred a few from attending but the United boss still felt it was a good event, and he’s keen for the squad to make more use of the centre’s facilities in the coming seasons.

“It was pleasing,” he said. “It was an opportunity for the players to mix and get a good rapport with the fans which we always have.

“The event was quite small, the weather was pretty bad which probably stopped a number of fans from coming along, but it did the trick.

“The facilities are lovely there. We’re hoping to use them on a more regular basis.”
