Windsor’s David Finch was one of 57 people recognised for their voluntary work for the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) on Friday.
The awards, which recognise boating’s most dedicated volunteers, were presented by Her Royal Highness, Anne, Princess Royal.
David received his RYA Lifetime Commitment Award in recognition of his commitment to Silver Wing Sailing Club (SWSC). He’s been a leading member of the club for over 60 years and served as its Commodore twice. He was also instrumental in the design and construction of the clubhouse 40 years ago.
David said: “I was delighted with the awards ceremony which expresses the importance that the RYA places on volunteers and family involvement in sailing, with awards being presented personally by Princess Anne. Thank you very much to my colleagues at Silver Wing Sailing Club for nominating me as a recipient.”
