Adam Gambrill claimed one of two bronze medals for Cookham Running Club, whose juniors produced a fine array of performances at the Berkshire Cross Country Championships.

The u13s girls team also won bronze, while in addition four of the club’s members gained automatic county selection. Two more runners are on the county reserve list.

Gambrill looked strong in the final stages of the two lap course of St George’s School in Pangbourne. He was closing in on second placed Oliver Hall of Bracknell but the finish line arrived just too soon. He’s now looking forward to representing Berkshire at February’s UK Inter County Championships in Loughborough.

Joining him at the event will be Cara Terry and Jemima Ridley, seventh and eighth respectively in the u15s girls race. Callum Bleazard was also eighth in the u13s boys race.

Siena Brancato, 10th overall, led the u13s girls team to a bronze medal, with Jacqueline Heller, 13th, Amelie Taylor, 14th and Asmi Saha 17th. Brancato, Alex Bate (u15s boys), and Ben Reynolds (u17s men) have all been named as county reserves.
