Robert Hansell was the undoubted star of the show as Cippenham Table Tennis Club hosted the Bucks Closed Championships on December 1.
Hansell, a key member of the Cippenham team in the Senior British League for many seasons, won all three titles available to him.
In the blue riband event, the men’s singles, Hansell won his sixth successive title by beating Dave Croucher in the final.
He then teamed up with the defeated finalist to prevail in the men’s doubles event.
He was also a winner in the mixed doubles competition.
There was more Cippenham interest in the men’s doubles with junior pairing Shae Thakker and William Fricker the beaten finalists.
Cippenham Veteran Mary Heffernan also enjoyed a successful day at the table, partnering Hansell to the mixed doubles title.
They beat Thakker and Sue Hayes in an all-Cippenham final by the narrowest possible margin, 12-10 in the deciding game. Heffernan also tasted success in the Ladies Singles competition, overcoming Hayes in the final. The two of them then teamed up for the Veteran doubles event but were beaten by Dave Croucher and Tim Cheek.
The event was organised by Ken Phillips, chairman and head coach of Cippenham Table Tennis Club.
