Maidenhead Royals will be targeting an unbeaten season in Division 1 after sealing the title with a 17-6 win over sister team the Rebels this week.
The Rebels didn’t make life easy for their clubmates, having been steamrollered in recent encounters, but they lacked the offensive bite to truly test them.
The game was effectively settled in the fifth innings, when, for once, the Rebels defence made some costly errors which allowed the Royals to score eight runs. The Rebels did manage to reply with four runs but quickly found themselves 11 shots behind.
The Rascals indifferent season continued against the Scorchers Yellows on Thursday as they conceded 12 runs in the first four innings to lose 14-7. The Rascals did manage to put some late runs on the board but the defeat saw their hopes of a top four finish disappear.
Despite the disappointment it’s been an exciting season for the Rascals who’ve blooded a number of new players, including Grace Willis who picked up six MVP awards from the 13 games.
The season ends next week when the Royals will play the Rebels once again.
