Maidenhead’s Jake Wincomb and Windsor’s Will Denegri have been selected in Great Britain’s 36-strong team to compete at the next World Rowing Cup event in Lucerne from Friday to Sunday (June 27-29).

The Lucerne Regatta is the last international racing opportunity for crews before the 2025 Shanghai World Rowing Championships from September 21-28.

The squad is aiming to continue developing and building teamwork and partnerships on the Rotsee, known by many as the lake of the Gods’.

Both Denegri and Wincomb featured in the last World Rowing Cup event in Varese, Italy, where Denegri coxed the men’s eights team to gold with Germany taking silver.

Jake (Oxford Brookes University BC) (Hometown: Maidenhead) rowed for the men’s fours team in Italy, with the crew finishing fourth after a late surge. They finished roughly a second behind the second Dutch team in the final and will be hoping to be closer to the podium in Lucerne.

Commenting on the team selection Louise Kingsley, British Rowing Director of Performance said: “Results at the Europeans and World Cup Varese have been encouraging and we’ve seen some standout performances from the likes of Benjamin Pritchard, Lauren Henry, our eights and our quads. We’ve also seen many of our newer athletes learning with each race and delivering improved results. Lucerne is our last multi-lane racing opportunity before the World Championships, and more international competitors are expected, so it will be a good, final marker before we make our crew decisions for the big one in Shanghai.”

Great Britain is currently second in the World Rowing Cup standings with 42 points. The Netherlands is in first place with 45 points. You can follow the action live at worldrowing.com
