Maidenhead B&G FC u11s Girls have won the Marlow tournament, after an undefeated run through the competition.
The girls team won each of their five matches, and beat Penn & Tylers Green 1-0 in the final with a goal from Sofia Lacey.
It was the goals of Emily McMaster that fired them to the final, however. She netted five times as the team overcame Marlow Youth B 3-0, and Penn & Tylers Green 2-0. There was also a group stage victory over Farnham Royal.
In the semi-final against AFC Reading a bullet header from McMaster was enough to take the side through to the final and they went on to lift the cup.
The team featured Sofia Lacey, Emily McMaster, Laila Knowles, Georgina Evans and U10s Amy Martin, Sophie McMaster and Ellie Godleman.
The boys u11s didn’t fare quite so well in hot, humid conditions in the Marlow Tournament Plate Competition.
They managed just one draw, a stalemate against Spencerwood Trojans, as they exited the competition after the group games. Defeats followed against Bourne End Reds (3-1), Marlow Royals A (2-1), Bedhampton Youth Blues (4-1) and BPR Imperials (2-0), however, they performed creditably in all of their matches with an under-strength squad that included several u10s players.
The team consisted of Callum Neeson-Roberts, Morgen Wynn-Jones, Harry James and Patrick Spiers who were joined by Zach Chan from U10 Foxes and Alistair Bailey from U10 Dolphins
