In the public notices this week, a historic hotel in Wexham is looking for retrospective permission for a minor change, while there are three road closures in Windsor.
Planning
The Langley Hotel on Uxbridge Road, George Green, Wexham, is looking for retrospective permission for something the company installed on the roof.
It already installed a rooftop safety railing on the main building of the hotel – but it needs an application for listed building consent in order to be permitted to do this by the council.
Langley Park House and the Clockhouse, both included in the site, are Grade II listed buildings – both set within the Langley Park Historic Park or Garden (also Grade II listed).
The proposed roof gantry is ‘required to allow safe access for maintenance purposes.’
The system is proposed to be collapsible when not in use ‘to improve the external appearance of the whole building.’
It would ‘not be visible from ground level’ and would have ‘a negligible impact’ to the Grade II listed Main House.
It does not involve alterations to the historic fabric of the building and retains the architectural features on the roof level.
“It is therefore considered that the proposed roof gantry will preserve its character and appearance and ensur[e] the long-term maintenance of the hotel,” wrote RPS Consulting Service Ltd, representing the applicants.
The proposed alteration has been discussed with a South Bucks conservation officer.
