Former Windsor RFC youth player Josh Basham signs for Newcastle Falcons

Former Windsor RFC youth player Josh Basham has singed for Premiership side Newcastle Falcons on a three-year deal.

The back-rower joined Windsor U6s before making plenty of appearances for the minis and juniors under the coaching of Francis Boundy and Karl Trowbridge.

The England U20 international, who studies at Durham University, is currently recovering from an ankle injury and is not expected to play any part in the Falcon’s Premiership campaign this season.

Basham, a product of the London Irish academy has three Daily Mail Trophies to his name, winning them with Wellington College, before captaining England U18s and helping the London Irish to an Academy League title.

Speaking to Premiership Rugby Basham said: “Newcastle Falcons have got a great reputation for promoting young talent, I like the way they play the game and it’s fantastic to have signed for the club.

“I’ve signed for three years and I’m hoping to really fly into pre-season – I know quite a few of the boys here from Durham Uni and England age-group stuff, and everyone has been very welcoming.”

“I just can’t wait to get into things properly once I’ve completed my rehab, and I’m really happy to have joined up with the Falcons.”
