JAMES Dobson expects competition for first team places to be pretty intense as the Rebels build up to their FA Cup clash at home to Rochdale in early December.
The Rebels, who are flying high in the Southern League Premier Division and also gone through in the FA Trophy, have a handful of games to negotiate before they host League One Rochdale at Arbour Park. And Dobson admits they can’t afford to take their eyes off their main goal this season, which is securing promotion to the National League South.
Dobson (left) played his part in Saturday’s 6-0 rout of Gainsborough Trinity, where Matt Lench’s hat-trick was supplemented by strikes from Chris Flood, Manny Williams and a rare goal from Sean Fraser.
He knows Rochdale will bring a strong squad for the tie but with confidence flying through the squad at the moment, he believes the Rebels have every chance of causing an upset.
“All the boys are happy with it,” he said. “But we also need to focus on the league and the FA Trophy as well. There will be plenty of competition in the coming weeks to get one of those places for the tie in December. The confidence is flying at the moment within the team. Whatever opposition we come up against we know we can play and will have our spells.”
