On loan Slough Town striker Matty Stevens has been recalled with immediate effect by Peterborough United.
The Rebels received written notice from The Posh, recalling the forward on Monday morning, compounding the disappointment from Sunday’s FA Cup exit.
Stevens scored 11 times in 19 appearances while on loan with the club. Despite not scoring in Sunday’s second round defeat to Gillingham, Stevens led the line brilliantly, never giving the Gills’ defence a moment’s peace.
Neil Baker told the club’s website: “This is obviously a blow to us after the disappointment of exiting the FA Cup yesterday.
“We would like to thank Matty for his time with us, and wish him the best of luck in his future career.
“He has been a delight to manage, and with his work rate, attitude and goals we have no doubt that he can look forward to an excellent career in the game.
“In the mean time we will assess our options but will not rush into any decisions.”
The Rebels get back to League action on Saturday, away to Dartford.
