Slough Town are to amend their ground safety operations – starting with tonight’s tie against Weston-Super-Mare – following last weekend’s crowd trouble.
The club released a statement last week say it was fully cooperating with police to identify anyone involved in the incidents which took place both during and after the Rebels’ 5-0 win over Chelmsford City.
Slough stressed it was taking a ‘zero tolerance’ approach to the matter and have made further efforts this week to ensure fans continue to enjoy watching football in a ‘welcoming, family-friendly environment’.
This includes a few tweaks to their ground safety operations. Supporters attending tonight’s game with Weston – and future home games – will notice an increased presence from Sands Security.
In addition, segregation will also be in place for the Rebels’ home matches with Wycombe Wanderers in the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup and league matches against Salisbury on Community Day, Maidenhead United, Torquay United and Dagenham & Redbridge.
Alongside this the club intends to review how it can improve the overall matchday experience and ticket management ahead of next season. This will include considerations around segregation, ticketing processes and policies relating to u18s admissions.
The club’s statement read: “Following last Saturday’s incident, we would like to update supporters on a number of changes to ground safety management that will apply to the remaining fixtures of the 2025/26 season.
“Our main priority is to ensure supporters have full confidence in attending matches at Arbour Park and can continue to enjoy live football in a warm, welcoming, and family-friendly environment.
“There is no doubt that an underlying issue is currently affecting non-league football, with a very small minority of individuals attending matches intent on anti-social behaviour, where the football itself is secondary. As a football club, we do not condone this behaviour from either home or away supporters.
“We are currently assisting Thames Valley Police with their investigation into last Saturday’s incident, and three individuals have been issued with suspensions while this investigation continues.
“We thank all supporters for their continued backing and cooperation as we take these necessary steps to ensure the safety and enjoyment of everyone attending matches at Arbour Park.”
