Children have been encouraged to read new books by a big blue cuddly bear at Slough’s libraries this week.
Bookstart Bear, the mascot of reading charity Bookstart, visited Britwell Library on Tuesday, Cippenham Library today (Wednesday) and is due to appear at Wexham and Colnbrook libraries tomorrow (Thursday).
The visits coincided with Slough Libraries’ Festival of Learning which has been hosting a range of activities this month and last to promote child and adult learning.
Bookstart Bear is part of the organisation’s wider initiative to get kids interested in books as young as possible.
The charity gives book packs to libraries across the country, who distribute them to nurseries, children’s centres and doctors surgeries.
The book-loving bear is due to visit Chalvey Library on Friday morning, Slough Library on Friday afternoon, Cippenham Library on Monday and Langley Library on Tuesday.
