Holmer match was a 'dominant display' by Blues, says boss Shone

Burnham captain Thomas Willment.

Paul Shone deemed Burnham’s 3-0 victory against Holmer Green as a ‘dominant display’ with the victory firing the Blues into fourth place of the Hellenic Premier Division ahead of a busy festive schedule.

Joe Gritt was the Blues’ star man on Saturday and scored twice, on the 5th and 90th minute, with Sam Ayres notching on one for himself in-between Gritt's brace, just on the hour mark.

Shone is confident his side can build on their triumph in their next match against Flackwell Heath on Boxing Day.

“It was pleasing and a dominant display from start to finish,” said Shone. “They came with a defensive game plan but it was just a matter of time before we broke it down.”

“It could have been more comfortable at half-time but it wasn’t to be.

“But (in the) second half we dominated again from start to finish and to finish off at 3-0 I think the scoreline reflects the possession and the amount of chances that we had.

“We’ve been creating chances all season. Defensively it was great to keep another clean sheet as a team.

“It’s pleasing to go into the Christmas period with three points and we look ahead to Boxing Day now.”
