Marlow FC

Marlow travel to Chalfont St Peter on Saturday sitting 14th in the South Central Division table, 11 points off the play-offs.

The Blues had hoped to bounce back from their 3-2 home defeat by Ware last week with another home game against Bracknell Town on Saturday, but the game was postponed because the Oak Tree Road surface was waterlogged.

It leaves Mark Bartley’s side 11 points off the play-off places, their stated aim for the season and one which hasn’t changed despite the side’s recent run of ill-luck with injuries and indifferent form.

One thing the side has been over recent weeks is difficult to beat and, with the likes of Chris Ovenden returning from injury, Bartley will be confident of turning around the team’s form to get them heading back up the table. Bartley has also made moves to improve the side’s firepower with Nnamdi Nwachuku arriving from Coggeshall Town and scoring twice in his first two matches.

Chalfont, who were due to play at Northwood yesterday (Boxing Day), are no mugs and sat ninth in the table on 24 points ahead of that game.

Windsor FC

Windsor FC will be hoping to get the better of Virginia Water when they play them in a Landlords vs Tenants match at Stag Meadow on Boxing Day.

The two sides ground share and have had remarkably similar seasons, with Virginia Water just a point and a place above Mark Cooper’s side ahead of that game. Windsor then return to league action at Ardley United on January 4.

Flackwell Heath FC

Flackwell Heath will be looking to exact some revenge on Burnham when the sides meet each other at Wilks Park on Boxing Day.

Marcus Richardson’s side were thumped 5-0 by the Blues at The Gore back in August, a result which helped kick start Burnham’s season.

Since then Flackwell’s form has been indifferent and they went into the match firmly lodged in mid-table, 11th on 20 points. Burnham are up to fourth on 28 points, eight adrift of second placed Fairford Town.

Flackwell Heath are back in action on Saturday, away to 17th placed Ardley United.

Holyport FC

After two successive postponements Holyport are not due to return to action until January 4, when they host Chalvey Sports at Summerleaze Village.

Derek Sweetman’s side had been hoping to build on their 6-0 win over Abingdon Town last week against Abingdon United at home on Saturday but the game was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

--

Marlow United FC

Having not played since December 3, Marlow United are due to get back to competitive action at home against Woodley United on Saturday. They then travel to Didcot Town Reserves on January 4. Having not played in recent weeks they’ve slipped down the table to fifth place.
